Catherine Hwang-Jin, is currently serving as the Children’s Ministry Director at the Vine. Her passion is to see Children and families know and experience the truth that is written in God’s Word. She believes that spiritual formation begins from early age, and that the church must walk along side the families to help children grow in their Christian faith. According to research, majority of Christians accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior before the age of 13. She believes it is a tremendous privilege to be part of such a crucial and transforming ministry.

Catherine graduated from CalSate LA with a BS in Biology and is currently receiving her Master of Christian Education from Talbot School of Theology. Catherine is also working in the entertainment industry to be an impact and glorify God through her talents in theatre, film and media. She is also the wife of Pastor Steve Jin, and they live “happily ever after” in the city of Arcadia with their teacup dog Melchizedek.

Interests

Penguins (the animal), purple (color), shopping (trying to stop), musicals (goal in life to see them all or be in it!), music (every genre except house music), singing, dancing, acting, talking (needs to learn how to talk quietly), making up crazy dramatic stories (in her head), reading, tea, cooking, and EATING (will do almost anything for yummy food)!!!

Hidden (Well-Hidden) Talents

Catherine is able to burp any names and the entire alphabet on command. She is also able to ruin any electronic items that are near her without even touching it!!! And she can drive without her hands! MAGIC!

Brushes With History

Catherine has been very fortunate to sing backup for artists like Mya, Mariah Carey, and has sang with Korean artists like Jinusean, Kahi Park (Afterschool), and Christian Artist Soyang. She has also been fortunate to meet Lauryn Hill, Michael Jordan, Will Smith, Mike Landsford, and Bill Cosby.

Why She’s Special

Catherine in not only a FOB from South Korea, but she has traveled all over the world including North Korea, China, Myanmar, Thailand, South Africa, Uganda, Mexico, France, England, Italy, and St. Lucia! She’s also special because she very gullible and naive (she grew up under a rock in La Crescenta..hehe). She is also allergic to cheap metals (which made it difficult for her husband, and is crazy double jointed and has flat feet! BOO!
